Ohniste is 1538 meters high famous slovak mountain formed from limestone. There is a splendid view of the Low Tatras mountains from the Ohniste peak mainly of mountain ridge and valleys in the central Tatras.
A 125 meters deep ice-chasm is set right under the mountain peak. Not far away from Ohniste peak you can find the biggest rock window in Slovakia. It measures approx. 20 meters. A tour to Ohniste peak should be started in Janska valley going comfortable along a tourist pavement.
